Unbeknown to Chapman, the machine contained personal bank account and credit card information on over one million American Express, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), and NatWest customers.

It is a good thing that this was an honest, and upright IT manager. If someone had purchased those same hard drives and they weren’t upright citizens they would have access to millions of people’s credit card and banking information. And who knows what kind of nefarious things they would do.

This is a great reminder for folks to make sure that your personal information is secure as well as checking on the security of your own information because sometimes the banks that we “trust” automatically may not be taking care of our personal information as much as we’d like.

When you browse an item on ebay, you may notice this icon on the upper right hand corner at the “Meet The Seller “section. This icon represents the ebay member ID verified icon. If a seller has the symbol right next to his account name, this signifies that he has successfully completed the ID verification process done by Equifax Company that investigates and confirm members’ identity by cross-checking their contact information using consumer and business databases. Having this icon entitles a member to become a seller, to open an ebay store, bid on ebay auctions and bid above $17,000. It will also entitle the member to list with Buy Now or Best Offer option, list an item with multiple or fixed price format. This icon tells us that the seller’s business address is within US.

Sniping is the fine art of outbidding your competition in the very last seconds of the auction — without leaving them enough time to place a defensive bid. Sniping is my number one favorite way to win an auction on eBay. When I first touted this method in 1999, it was a fairly new idea. Now everyone knows about sniping, and it’s pretty much an accepted bidding method. Bidders (that is, losing bidders) whine and moan when they lose to a sniper, but they should remember one thing: The high bidder always wins, whether you’re sniping or using the automatic bid system. If you’re going to snipe, assume that the current bidder has a very high dollar proxy bid in the works. Some eBay members consider the practice of sniping unseemly and uncivilized — like when dozens of parents used to mob the department store clerks to get to the handful of Cabbage Patch dolls that were just delivered. (Come to think of it, whatever happened to those collectibles?)

Of course, sometimes a little uncivilized behavior can be a hoot. Sniping is an addictive, fun part of life on eBay. I recommend that you try it. You’re likely to benefit from the results and enjoy your eBay experience even more — especially if you’re an adrenaline junkie.

Ebay is doing its best to speed up shipment this season but announces that some buyers who may have transactions from Midwestern US, may experience delay of shipment. The area is experiencing ice storms resulting to cancellation of flights and electricity failure. On the other hand, ebay Australia, speeds up shipment in time for the holiday season. Sellers were offered to list using fixed price and PayPal to speed up the purchase and payment so items are sent without delay.  Ebay sellers are also ready in seasons like this.

Big stars like Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Will Ferell, Cher and a lot more are again out for a noble cause. Afghan kites are being auctioned on ebay with the star’s signatures on it, in support to the Afghan Relief Organization. The organization will help pay for the training of teachers and the building of libraries in the rural areas in Afghanistan. But why kites? This is also in promotion of the launching of an upcoming movie, Kite Runner. A movie based on the 2003 debut novel by Khaled Hosseini. The movie is a controversy as it exposes some of the social issues in Afghanistan.

I tried to this ebay “to go” widget on wordpress. First thing I did was to go to http://togo.ebay.com/. It’s so easy, I was asked to select a template for my widget and also asked what items I want to view in my widget. I chose these toy cars for a try and it generates a code. You can choose more items if you want. Copy and paste the code to the theme editor in my sidebar to position the widget at the side. When I view my site, it gave me a widget of about 2 by 2.5 inch wide widget. It looks much wider compared to bumpzee widget. But it displays the ads well. Ebay sellers, why don’t you try it!
